Laura Vickers is a member of the Family Team.

Prior to commencing pupillage in 2008, Laura worked at a large firm of solicitors specialising in criminal law.  Since completing pupillage at 2 New Street in September 2009 she has built a busy family practice across the Midlands, with a particular emphasis on public law.

Laura represents parents, children, intervenors and local authorities in care proceedings at all levels and is experienced in cases involving allegations of non-accidental injuries, physical and sexual abuse and serious neglect. She often represents clients who are particularly vulnerable, either through learning disability or mental illness, substance misuse or by virtue of being victims of abuse themselves. She aims to adopt a sensitive and empathetic approach while at the same time working hard to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients.

Laura also acts for parents and children in private law disputes, with issues ranging from permission to remove children from the jurisdiction, to residence and contact disputes, to specific issues such as schooling or religious upbringing.

She deals with all Family Law Act applications, with parties seeking protection from domestic violence or to resolve occupation of the family home.

Laura represents spouses and interveners at all stages of ancillary relief proceedings, from FDA to final hearing. She is also happy to advise prior to the issue of proceedings for clients considering mediation or alternative dispute resolution.

Laura aims to provide an efficient and professional service for both the lay client and instructing solicitors and therefore welcomes email and telephone correspondence or conferencing whenever required to suit the needs of a particular case.

Laura is a member of the Family Law Bar Association.

Outside of work she is a committed foodie, Arsenal fan, cat-lover and ballerina.
